Unlearn
Letting go of what worked, so something better can stick.
Unlearn is one of the five adaptability abilities in the AQme model: letting go of what worked, so something better can stick. Unlike a fixed trait, it grows with practice — the free Meekins profile measures it in about five minutes.
The three seasons
Wherever you are today, each season has one honest move.
The old way earned its place — you're good at it, and letting go feels like a loss. That loyalty is human. It's also the main thing between you and the next level.
Day to day. Day to day, familiar solutions feel safest, and new methods can feel like a threat instead of a tool. The old way keeps you comfortable — and quietly costs you options. One small switch at a time.
One thing to try. Pick one 'old way' you're still holding. Give the new way one small, low-stakes task this week. Just one.
You'll switch to a better way once you've seen it work. You keep a foot in the old method for comfort — which is fine, until it slows the new one down.
Day to day. Day to day, you explore new solutions and stay open to change, with some discomfort when old habits have to go. That wobble while your hands relearn is normal. Keep going through it.
One thing to try. Choose one task where you go all-in on the new way — no safety copy of the old one. See what happens.
When the old way dies, you're already halfway into the new one. Most people can't do that. You treat mastery as a season, not an identity.
Day to day. Day to day, you break old habits fast and pick up new ways faster. In a world that keeps changing its tools and rules, that speed makes you one of the most valuable people in the room.
One thing to try. This is rare — teach it. Help one person who's stuck on 'the old way' make their switch. Teaching it doubles it.
