Privacy — the plain version
This is written to be read, not scrolled past. The short version: we use your answers to show you your profile, we use anonymised answers for research, we only email you if you asked us to, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
The Meekins is run by adaptai Ltd, a UK company (the makers of AQai). We're the 'data controller', which means we're responsible for looking after your information. Questions any time: privacy@aqai.io.
What we collect
Your first name and email (only when you choose to unlock your full profile). Your answers to the moments. Basic technical information like device type, so the site works. That's it — no contacts, no location tracking, no ad trackers.
What we use it for
Three things. One: to build and show you your profile, and save it so you can retest. Two: research — see the next section. Three: if you tick the box, an occasional email with something useful. No box ticked, no emails beyond your results.
The AQ Labs study
By taking your profile you take part in the AQ Labs study. Here's exactly what that means: your answers are separated from your name and email, and the anonymised answers are analysed together with everyone else's to make the science better — including testing the new 'Labs moments'. Anonymised means the research data cannot be traced back to you. You can opt out any time from the link in your results or by emailing privacy@aqai.io — your profile still works exactly the same.
Where your data lives
On secure systems run under adaptai's certified information security management system (ISO/IEC 27001:2022). Access is limited to people who need it to run the service.
How long we keep it
Your profile and account: until you delete them or after three years of inactivity, whichever comes first. Anonymised research data: indefinitely, because it can't identify you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or take it elsewhere. Email privacy@aqai.io and we'll act within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled anything, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner (ico.org.uk).
What we never do
We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers. We never show your individual results to an employer — if your organisation invites you to the full AQme assessment later, that runs under its own clear rules, told to you at the time.
Age
The Meekins is for people aged 16 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or a notice on the site, in the same plain language.
