ReABILITY

Resilience

Getting back to normal after a knock.

Resilience is one of the five adaptability abilities in the AQme model: getting back to normal after a knock. Unlike a fixed trait, it grows with practice — the free Meekins profile measures it in about five minutes.

The three seasons

Wherever you are today, each season has one honest move.

GROWING

Setbacks stay with you longer than you let on. You carry on — but carrying on isn't the same as recovering, and the knock travels home with you. Recovery is a practice, not a personality.

Day to day. Day to day, knocks cost you more than they should — stress runs higher and change feels heavier. That's not weakness; it's an unprotected recovery. Building one changes everything else.

One thing to try. Book the recovery before the next push: one evening this week that's fully yours, planned like a shift — not left to chance.

STRONG

Most knocks cost you a day or two, then you're back. The bigger ones take longer — and you sometimes skip the recovery and pay for it later.

Day to day. Day to day, you cope with most of what the week throws at you. The extreme patches push stress up and shrink your appetite for big change. Stronger recovery is what makes the big leaps possible.

One thing to try. After the next setback, name it out loud to someone the same day. Spoken knocks heal faster than silent ones.

LEADS

You take the hit, feel it, and come back fast — often with something learned. People steady themselves on your recovery speed, whether you see it or not.

Day to day. Day to day, hard environments suit you — you take hits without burning out and come back with answers. That lowers your burnout risk and raises what you're willing to attempt.

One thing to try. Teach the comeback: when someone near you takes a knock, share what you do first. Your first hour is a masterclass.
